Capcom Classics Collection (カプコンクラシックスコレクション, Kapukon Kurashikkusu Korekushon) is a compilation of arcade games released by Capcom for the PlayStation 2 and Xbox on September 27, 2005 in North America and in 2006 in Japan. It was developed by Digital Eclipse Software (then Backbone Entertainment), Sensory Sweep, and its Japanese developer Klein Computer Entertainment. A second volume, Capcom Classics Collection Vol. 2, was released on November 24, 2006 in North America, for PlayStation 2 and Xbox. The second volume as well as the Xbox version of the first volume were not released in Japan.

In 1998, Capcom produced a series of five video game compilations titled Capcom Generations for the PlayStation and Sega Saturn, released in Japan and the PAL region. The series as a whole compiled over 15 arcade games and the Super NES game Super Ghouls 'n Ghosts. Each volume was accompanied by extra features such as a historical overview of each title, artwork gallery, hints and even cast profiles. All games in these compilations also contained enhanced gameplay options such as rapid fire, a bigger screen, and remixed soundtrack.

It's time to return to the heyday of the arcade with CAPCOM ARCADE 2ND STADIUM. This new collection features two decades of Capcom arcade hits, from 1984's side-scrolling platformer SonSon to 2004's Hyper Street Fighter II: The Anniversary Edition, and with 30 more classic titles packed in between. This arcade archive features the original ROMs of both English and Japanese releases, re-creating the look and feel of each title to the point that you'll find yourself trying to drop a coin into your console or computer. These retro classics also come with some modern tricks, such as saving and loading a game at any point, speeding and slowing the action on the fly, and even rewinding the gameplay to correct any ill-timed mistakes. Players can also compete in both Score and Timed Challenges, posting their highest scores against others from around the globe. And if that's not enough, there are also Special Challenges that change up the gameplay in other unique ways, such as playing with an inverted screen for added difficulty. It's all the fun you could ask for in an arcade experience without ever having to leave the comfort of your couch.

While the fundamental elements of Capcom Arcade 2nd Stadium are the same as in the first release, it's the new selection of games that makes this collection truly shine. Fighting game fans will relish the inclusion of three games from the Darkstalkers series, five from the Street Fighter series, and even extra-cute fan favorites, Super Puzzle Fighter II Turbo and Super Gem Fighter Mini Mix. Mega Man fans will also be happy to see both of the Blue Bomber's arcade outings in this mix. That's not to say there aren't a few head scratching additions to the lineup, but the collection is filled with more hits than misses by far. Even the lesser known titles like the quirky puzzle game Pnickies manage to have an oddly addictive quality that make them hard to put down. Whether you're taking a nostalgic trip down memory lane or are being introduced to these arcade classics for the very first time, Capcom Arcade 2nd Stadium delivers a retro experience that gamers of any age will appreciate.

Based heavily on the second volume of the PS2 Capcom Classics Collection, this PSP compilation is an excellent value. Compiling 20 Capcom arcade titles, it includes equal parts classics (Final Fight, Strider) and overlooked oddities (Captain Commando, Quiz & Dragons).
